Catherine Hardwicke totally captures California for the Z-boys.
With a killer soundtrack to suit the gritty lives of the three teenagers, it works brilliantly.
A script written by Stacy Peralta himself gave the film depth.
The film ends leaving you with something of an understanding of how much a sport can mean to people, and what it ment to them.
Exhilirating and liberating...
-They came from nothing to change everything.
LORDS OF DOGTOWN tells the radical true story behind three teenage
surfers from Venice Beach, California, who took skateboarding to the extreme
and changed the world of sports forever. Stacey Peralta (John Robinson),
Tony Alva (Victor Rasuk) and Jay Adams (Emile Hirsch) are the Z-boys,
a bunch of nobodies until they create a new style of skateboarding that
becomes a worldwide phenomenon. But when their hobby becomes a business,
the success shreds their friendship. Directed by Catherine Hardwicke (thirteen)
and written by Stacy Peralta, Lords of Dogtown is "...a dazzling daredevil ride."

This video is great if you have seen the movie...
but be warned it will give away quite a bit if you haven't.
